Mary took her first yoga class in 2000 to stretch and relieve stress after her hectic days at work. She has always been active with running, bike riding, aerobic classes and lifting weights but yoga was different. Her first teacher was an Iyengar teacher so she learned about alignment and using props. But after her first Power class (taught by Baron) at a Yoga Journal Conference in 2002 Mary was hooked. When Mary retired from work and moved to Naples in 2012 she took the teacher training at Bala Vinyasa and graduated in February 2014. She has been teaching since February 2015.
Mary loves teaching Gentle classes with an emphasis on modifications and alignment to empower every student to love their body and practice. She is 62 years old and understands the aging body. Yoga poses move our body in ways that counteract our everyday postures.
